Historic Lakeville Library
The Lakeville Public Library's mission is to act as a community center, offering free educational, informational, cultural, and recreational library services to all individuals in the area.
The current Library building at 4 Precinct Street was opened to the public on August 23, 2005. This spacious, modern Library includes a dedicated children's room, separate Young Adult lounge, two private study rooms, a large community meeting room, and local history conference room. There are several areas to sit and work throughout the Library and collections are regularly updated to meet the community's needs.
Prior to the construction of this Library building, the Library was situated across the street in the Historic Lakeville Library which opened in 1914 after Andrew Carnegie donated $5,000 toward its construction. This "Carnegie Library" replaced the original Free Public Library which opened on July 21, 1903 with 150 books on hand.
